Chiltern Maritime was honoured to be invited by IOM Maritime (Isle of Man Maritime) to attend the inaugural “Isle of Man Maritime Careers Fair” in Douglas on Saturday, July 9th 2022.
The Isle of Man Maritime Careers Fair event was aimed at young people, 14 years and over and IOM Maritime’s objective was to highlight the diversity of the maritime industry and the job opportunities, on land and at sea that the Island has to offer.
“Maritime enables 95% of the UK’s global trade and on the Island, it touches on every part of our
lives. From working at sea or in a port to working in the city of Douglas, to cleaning the oceans of
plastics or designing a superyacht, maritime is big business. The sector is expected to double in size
to $3trn by 2030 and Maritime needs the next generation of innovators and problem-solvers to
join the industry and help shape the future of the world we live in.”
It was a positive first event, with a higher than anticipated footfall and a great opportunity for the
team to meet not only potential, future Cadets but also individual sponsors who might benefit from
IOM Maritime support and groups who had an interest in all Viking Maritime Group services.
