Dieter Jaenicke Elected President of the ISS - 09/01/2018

Dieter Jaenicke, Chairman and Founder of Dover-based Viking Recruitment, the Maritime Skills Academy and Chiltern Maritime Limited, was elected President of the International Superyacht Society (“ISS”), a global organisation representing all aspects of the superyacht industry. Dieter’s term as president started January 2018 and will continue for the year to 3 years.

“I am honoured and challenged,” said Jaenicke, “Superyachts are growing in complexity and size – the biggest so far is 180 metres – requiring increasingly skilled officers and crew which makes it a growing segment of our business and integral to our expansion; the superyacht industry is becoming more sophisticated and truly global and it’s now my job as its President to help the ISS lead the way.”

Founded by Jaenicke in 1988, Viking is a privately-owned business, based near the busy port of Dover. The company now also has offices in Southampton, Guernsey, Manila and Auckland, New Zealand training and supplying Officers and Crew of all ranks and positions to Ship and Yacht Owners, Managers and Captains worldwide.

ISS was founded in 1989 and with members all over the world its mission is to Ensure Sustainability and Excellence in the Global Yachting Industry by building alliances worldwide with regional and functional industry associations to serve as a communications conduit for issues affecting the marketplace, owners, crew and industry members and to recognise achievement as well as provide educational opportunities and industry networking events.
